Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle

Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle

Through using the workouts that I constructed for myself using the knowledge given in Brawn and/or Beyond Brawn and the nutritional program given in Scrawny to Brawny, my gains in both strength and muscle were outstanding. People were noticing my growth and commenting that I had bulked up – quite flattering really! However, I had become a little disappointed by the accompanying 3% increase in body fat as I had been over eating. I am not sure that if I had eaten a little less that my muscle and strength gains would have been as great as they were.

I did remind myself that many body-builders traditionally go through two phases: a bulking phase and a leaning phase. This is because gaining muscle and losing fat is far more challenging than gaining both muscle and fat in a bulking phase and then losing just the fat whilst keeping your muscle mass the same during a leaning phase.

However, I have now found a book that enables you to gain muscle mass and lose body fat. What I found was an ebook called Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle. This was a great purchase, probably the best I have made. There is just so much in the package: the 300 page ebook itself, and a few excellent extras including “Foods that Burn Fat, Foods that Turn to Fat”, “The A-Food, B-Food Lecture” (what foods are fantastic and what foods are ‘just’ great), “How to Measure Your Body Fat in the Privacy of Your Own Home” and “Tasty Fat Loss and Muscle Gaining Recipes”.

This book empowers you to eat healthily. It tells you what foods to eat and when and also explains why eating this way will enable you to gain muscle and lose fat. It tells you what foods to avoid and it also gives you a good selection of workouts. It is neither a low-calorie nor high protein diet, just a healthy eating plan where Tom shows you how to determine the macronutrient ratio that is right for YOU.

In Burn the Fat Feed the Muscle, Tom Venuto says that fat loss is simple, but not easy. By this he means the science or principles of fat loss are not at all difficult to grasp, but actually implementing it is not easy as it requires effort and hard work. The effort is the time exercising, so most of you reading this wont have a problem with that, but the hard work is the time in the kitchen preparing and cooking the healthy foods. I don’t find it to be much extra effort and some of it is less effort than what I was doing before, so it’s not all that hard.

Tom also has a good section on supplements. Read this section and you won’t be wasting any more of your hard-earned money buying fat melting or muscle exploding supplements ever again with the exception of a few beneficial additions, such as multi-vitamins/minerals and essential fats. I would add a glucosamine supplement too as this protects your joints.

The book does not claim to be a rapid “fix” and that you’ll lose 30 pounds in 30 days. Instead it says top bodybuilders aim to lose ONE to ONE-AND-A-HALF pounds per week so that you don’t lose muscle as well! So, it’s all about healthy eating and exercise with a steady reduction in body fat over a longer period of time and why would you want to lose weight faster if you know you’re going to lose muscle and there’s a 95% chance that you’re going to put the fat back on?!?!
